In the last two publications of Anambra Insights, we explained that the Agency was focusing on auditing previously abandoned projects, to check their economic viability. This week, we bring more updates on reported projects and few new initiatives.

ANSEC APPROVES AWKA SPORTS AND LEISURE PARK
Last week, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) approved the development of the Awka Sports and Leisure Park. This was in response to the presentation by the ANSEC Committee on Agulu Lake Amusement and Leisure Park.
Recall that Anambra Insights had reported that the State Government had completed the conceptualization and design for the phase 1 of the proposed Agulu Lake Amusement and Leisure Park. However, after in-depth analysis and market research, ANSEC proposed the development of the Awka Sports and Leisure Park, while restructuring the concept and financing plan for the Agulu Lake Project.
The Awka Sports and Leisure Park is expected to utilize the 12 hectares of land around the Awka Stadium. The park will favour green areas and sports facilities to encourage a healthier and happier populace. The project is expected to be completed before 2025.
MAN COMMISSIONS ONITSHA LIASON OFFICE
The Manufacturing Association of Nigeria on Friday commissioned its Onitsha Liaison Office. The event also doubled as a Stakeholders Town Hall Meeting with the Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
Welcoming guests to the event, the Executive Director, Dozzy Group and Chairperson, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi States Branch, Lady Ada Chukwudozie (MNSE, FIOD) expressed her gratitude for the progress of MAN in the State.
Lady Chukwudozie explained the necessity for a stronger relationship between the Government and MAN, stating that “manufacturers are the lifeblood of any economy. For a State to flourish, the business clime must be favourable to the manufacturers”.
In his remarks, the Governor, Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo discussed the innovative ways the States will engage with MAN. He disclosed that the State Industrial Masterplan to provide a roadmap to Anambra’s industrialization will soon be launched. He further encouraged ANSIPPA to maintain a close relationship with MAN.
Highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Elders’ Committee of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.
UPDATES
ANSIPPA MEETS WITH THE MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM ON THE KAOLIN PROCESSING FACILITY
Earlier this month, Anambra Insights reported the State Government’s plans to complete the Kaolin processing facility, Ukpor. Sequel to that, the Agency developed a roadmap document to guide the engagement with the Federal Government on this project.
On Tuesday, in the process of intelligence gathering, the Agency met with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to finalize steps toward the completion of this project.
Following that meeting, the State will engage with the current miners of Kaolin in the State and present a more structured system that will utilize the solid mineral, contribute to the IGR of the State and positively impact Ndi Anambra, especially residents of the communities with Kaolin deposits.
