Season’s greetings on behalf of the members of Staff, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency ANSIPPA. The past year was remarkable for us at the Agency. Admittedly, we came into the Agency in the last quarter of the year, but so far, I would like to believe we hit the ground running.
Three months ago, we started working on Governor Soludo’s plan to reposition ANSIPPA to become a fully-fledged development corporation that will aggressively drive infrastructure projects and boost economic activities in the State. By the end of the year, we had secured both the Governing Council and the Anambra State Executive Council’s (ANSEC) approval on the structural framework and timeline delivery set for April 2023.
Building on this, we hope to submit the draft legislation to the Anambra State House of Assembly within the month. This will provide the legal backing to support the setup and operationalization of the new corporation. Given the importance of this project, we would keep providing updates as it unfolds.
Another interesting idea we started working on in the past year is the maiden edition of the Anambra Investment Summit. For the first time, Anambra State will bring together major Development Finance Institutions, Banks, industrialists, regulators, and key stakeholders to discuss investments and partnership opportunities in the State. The Summit will also signal to the world the Soludo administration’s commitment to improving Anambra’s business climate. The event is scheduled to hold at the start of the second quarter of the year.
Furthermore, as part of this administration’s promise to make Anambra a “mega industrialized economy State”, the Agency has been working on closing various investment deals that cut across hospitality and tourism, renewable energy, digital economy, and industrialization. The proposed investments will directly align with Mr. Governor’s goal of transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous smart megacity for the future of Ndi Anambra.
Also important is our Agency’s commitment to supporting large-scale industries and SMEs doing business in the State. Given the challenging macroeconomic environment, we intend to work closely with the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria and the Chambers of Commerce, Anambra State chapters to explore possible areas of interventions to address business sustainability concerns.
All these are a few initiatives the Agency is already working on. We take our role in driving private-sector-led development into the State with the utmost sense of responsibility and will keep exploring new ways to achieve this. For us, we desire to see a better and greater Anambra.
