This week has been very eventful for us at Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA).
As you ponder the question on the poster above;
Here is what we have been up to...
Work on Anambra Development Corporation (ADC) Intensifies
In line with Governor Soludo’s vision to transform ANSIPPA into a full-fledged development corporation, the Agency commenced a series of meetings with Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Infracredit and other professional services’ firms to develop a conceptual framework for the ADC. For this year, the Agency plans to finalize the framework guiding the proposed operations of the ADC, appoint transaction advisers and present a draft legislation to the Anambra State House of Assembly for the creation of ADC.
The proposed new structure will allow for the Agency to obtain a credit rating profile, access broader financial instruments and creative funding schemes to help drive infrastructure projects and investments in the State. The benefits of the proposed structure will be improved transparency, accountability, guaranteed investor confidence and operational effectiveness.
ANSIPPA to open Branches at the Liaison Offices in Abuja and Lagos
As part of the Soludo administration’s commitment to attracting development into Anambra, measures are being put in place to expand the role of the State’s liaison offices in Abuja and Lagos. The offices will serve as key points for investor engagement and partnerships. To implement this, the M.D. visited both offices for preliminary discussions regarding the set up of ANSIPPA branches. The offices will be charged with the responsibility of building a database of Ndi Anambra in these locations, promoting bankable investment opportunities and providing prospective investors with a seamless platform for business engagement with the State.

POLICY HIGHLIGHT
Nigeria’s Startup Law and the Future of Startups
…domesticating the law to develop Anambra’s Digital Tribe
The Nigeria Start-up Act (NSA) was recently signed into law to provide a framework for the nation to maximize its digital and creative economy for accelerated economic development. Since 2015, the Nigeria tech ecosystem has seen an unprecedented increase in the number of start-ups leveraging technology to solve everyday problems with over 380 start-ups raising c.US$2.06 billion between January 2015 and August 2022. Due to their fast-paced growth, these companies quickly became key contributors to the Nigerian economy, necessitating the need to set up policy guidelines that enable them explore their highest potential.
With start-ups currently employing tens of thousands of young people across the country, the State views this Act as critical to the achievement of its goal of improving the lives of Ndi Anambra youths. The Government through the Anambra ICT Agency, the Office the Special Adviser on Business Incubation and Innovation, Chinwe Okoli and ANSIPPA are currently engaging various stakeholders to domesticate this Act to support the implementation of the State’s digital agenda. Some of the initiatives highlighted are; I) the development of a framework for the proposed 100,000 Digital Tribe program, and II) the proposed business incubation & innovation district project. The Soludo Administration is fully committed to unlocking the digital and creative ecosystem in the State to create abundant economic opportunities for Ndi Anambra.
