Since you last heard from us, we have welcomed some potential investors, commenced public engagements for the upcoming Anambra Investment Summit, and followed up on previous projects.

ANAMBRA STATE SIGNS MOU WITH THE UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
The Anambra State Government, led by Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Development Programme, a subsidiary organ of the United Nations.
The MoU aims to establish a relationship where UNDP will undertake the responsibility for a feasibility study on flood resistance and prevention efforts in the state. The 5-year agreement aims to produce a comprehensive strategy document that advises the state on the best approach towards flood prevention and management.
Speaking at a pre-signing stakeholder engagement with the ANSIPPA team, a consultant from the UNDP team, Seth Vordzorgbe, explained the necessity for an extensive master plan on flood prevention that can guide the role of the public and private sectors in combating natural disasters.
KALIFA GARDEN CITY EXPRESSES INTEREST IN ANAMBRA STATE
Recently, Anambra State, through the Ministry of Land and ANSIPPA, received a real estate development proposal from Kalifa Garden City Limited, a part of Orange Island Development Limited, in an effort to align with the Governor's plan for a new Awka City.
Kalifa Garden City is a major player in the real estate sector with notable developments such as Orange Island Lagos, Masonia Bay, the Oranges, and Kalifa Garden City, Ikorodu, Lagos.

UPDATES
Following our previous report on the progress of the Onitsha SkyTrain project, the State, represented by the Chief of Staff, Commissioners for Transport, Works, and Land, and the MD of ANSIPPA, will honor the invitation of China Railway Beijing Engineering (CRBE) Ltd to visit key cities where CRBE has successfully implemented SkyTrains.
The team will also use this opportunity to engage with potential financiers for the development of key infrastructure in the state, such as the development of industrial cities, the Anambra export emporium project, the integrated agro-industrial park, etc.

ANAMBRA STATE TO DEVELOP RAIL MASTERPLAN
Following the devolution of power regarding the development of railways, Anambra State has finalized plans to develop a State Masterplan for the development of an intra-city railway system. In line with this, the State will issue a Request for Proposals this week. So, keep an eye on the national dailies and this newsletter.
ANSIPPA TO ORGANIZE WEBINAR ON ONITSHA RIVER PORT
As part of the preparations for the Anambra Investment Summit, the Agency will organize a webinar this month to discuss the next steps following the concession agreement of the Onitsha River Port, as well as the extensive economic and investment opportunities it presents, and its impact on the South-East, South-South, and North-Central regions.

ANSIPPA TO HOLD A PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT SESSION ON IMPROVING LIVABILITY IN THE STATE
On Friday, June 9, the Agency will host a public engagement session via the Twitter handle to discuss the various opportunities for the private sector to align with the Governor's plan for a livable Anambra.
The discussion will be led by an authority in urban regeneration and will address the Okpoko situation, and how the state is engaging with the private sector and development partners to revitalize the city and other areas in the state.
