How long has it been since you last heard from us?
It’s been over one month and we are just now catching up with the backlog of work.
We had the first post-summit Webinar, met with various prospective investors, joined a meeting for the Public-Private-Community-Partnership (PPCP) pilot project, and began implementing the execution plan for the nine (9) projects and agreement signed at the Summit.
THE DETAILS
NENI COMMUNITY COMMENCES IMPLEMENTATION OF DOOR-TO-DOOR WATER PROJECT
Following the recently signed tripartite Public-Private-Community-Partnership (PPCP) agreement between the Anambra State Government, Birsa Water Ltd, and Neni Town Union, Igwe Neni recently hosted a crucial engagement session with key stakeholders to deliberate on the implementation of the proposed Water Door-to-Door project.
Within the PPCP framework, the State government will fund the establishment of sixteen (16) solar-powered boreholes, strategically located within the Neni Community. In parallel, the Neni Community, in collaboration with the concessionaire, Birsa Water, will oversee the excavation and installation of Water Reticulation Pipelines, as well as provide sites for the Erection/Installation of New Overhead Tanks.
Furthermore, Birsa Water will be responsible for the management, operation, maintenance, and revenue collection of water tariffs. The Community, on its part, will handle the provision of New Overhead Tanks, the construction of Water Kiosks, and the installation of Water Meters in households.
During the meeting, Mark Okoye, the Managing Director of ANSIPPA, lauded Ndi Neni for their steadfast commitment to the town's development. He emphasized that community involvement is a pivotal element of the PPCP framework and encouraged other towns to follow Neni's example and demonstrate similar dedication to their own development.
This project is designed as a pilot scheme for the PPCP framework and will serve as the foundational model for the funding, establishment, and management of the proposed community-based water distribution concession across the State.
